The 25-year-old was in action for the whole 90 minutes as Nigeria opened their 2021 AFCON campaign with a 1-0 win over Mohamed Salah’s Egypt last Tuesday. The game was his major international tournament debut for the Super Eagles.
Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo says making his Africa Cup of Nations bow for Nigeria against Egypt is a “nice feeling”. Aribo provided the assist for the only goal of the game in a statement performance from Nigeria.

“It’s a nice feeling for me, of course being my first AFCON game. So yeah, it was just a really nice experience and most importantly to get the three points,” he said.
“It was really good. We knew it was important for us to stay solid, stay together as a team, work hard and give that extra 10%. So it’s really good.”
Aribo says the Super Eagles are ready for the challenge against Sudan, who Nigeria will play later today at 5:00 PM local time.
“I think the preparation [for Sudan] has been very good. The boys are ready. We are rested from the last game and we are ready to go, we are prepared.”
“Like the Egypt game, we want to win every single game, we want to take every game as it comes. So that’s what we are aiming for, to get the victory, get the three points, and put in a good performance,” he added.
