Naija Ratels FC Coach, Anya Ugochi said it was a “joyous thing” for her team as they kicked off their debut NWFL Premiership campaign with a convincing 2-0 win over Osun Babes FC on Wednesday at the Area 10 Sports Complex, Abuja.
Second-half strikes from Adugbe Olamide and Agama Ziperekefhege ensured the newly promoted side picked up the maximum three points to mark the start of their campaign at the topflight of the Nigerian Women’s League.
Ugochi expressed her joy with the result, saying a win was expected heading into the encounter.
“The victory is a joyous thing for me and my team because we have been preparing for this league. We expected nothing short of victory today even though we are coming into the league for the first time.
“We put our effort and made a lot of preparation and I’m happy that God have crowned our effort with a victory today,” she said.
