Former Venezia of Italy star, Adekunle Bajowa, was honoured on Monday evening by many of his colleagues and an esteemed royal father at a memorial party for his late dad.

Also present at the event were several of BJ’s colleagues during their days of playing grassroots football games across various localities of Lagos State and beyond.
The Young Bajowa, who was once invited to the Golden Eaglets’ camp and signed his first contract overseas with Jomo Cosmos FC of South Africa in the year 2000, said he and his siblings put heads together to remember their dad after 12 years of his death.
He recalled how his late dad, who held a traditional title, Arole of Osooro land, and was a brother to former military administrator, Olu Bajowa, played a key role in ensuring he took his football career abroad.
Although Chief Bajowa died unexpectedly on March 17, 2012, his proud son disclosed in a chat with sports247.ng that the highly respected elder of Igbotako in Ondo State ensured that his first son had a good foundation for his future before he went to the great beyond.
“I remain forever grateful for how my dad approved my interest in football. He initially wanted me to face my education and even registered me at Saint Gregory’s College, Obalende.
“However, when he saw my interest in football, he agreed to support me fully. He even sold one of his lands to sponsor my first trip abroad,” said BJ, whose first son, Victor Jnr, is already in the football academy of Venezia in Italy.
