Italian pundit Enrico Fedele has made controversial claims suggesting that Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker for Napoli, lied about his desire to continue playing for the Serie A champions.
According to Fedele, Osimhen allegedly made these false statements during Napoli’s celebratory gathering after winning their first league title since 1990.
Fedele, a former sporting director, addressed various issues surrounding the club in an
interview with Radio Marte, including Osimhen’s contract situation. He stated, “The Nigerian wants to stay in Naples and he reiterated this at the Scudetto party, stating that the last word belongs to president Aurelio De Laurentiis. However, many lies were told that evening, in my opinion: non-truths, because it was a party and he did not want to ruin the joyful atmosphere that had arisen.”
Fedele further claimed that in order to secure Osimhen’s continued presence in Naples, the club would need to offer him a significant financial package. He suggested a sum of ten million euros, as other clubs are expected to make offers exceeding one hundred million euros for the talented striker. Fedele argued that players usually expect to earn ten percent of their transfer fees as part of their wages.
Osimhen’s exceptional performances during the previous season, where he scored 31 goals in all competitions, have caught the attention of top clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain. His achievements also include becoming the first African player to win the Paolo Rossi Award, being named Best Striker in Serie A, and earning a spot in the Team of the Season.
It remains to be seen how Osimhen’s future will unfold, as conflicting reports and
speculations continue to circulate regarding his intentions and the offers he may receive
from other clubs.
