Super Eagles full-back Tyronne Ebuehi is hoping to put his injury concerns behind him as he looks to start afresh with Empoli.
Ebuehi inked a three-year deal with the Serie A side last month, leaving Benfica after four years without making a single first team appearance for the club. He spent last season on loan at Venezia where he made 20 appearances.
Ebuehi missed many matches in the second part of last season due to a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old has disclosed that his goal for this season is to stay healthy and help Empoli do better than last year. He said via the club’s website:
“My personal goal is to be in good physical condition. During last season in Venice the team and I did well in the first part of the championship.
“In the second half of the season, after returning from the African Cup, I had many injuries. It was really difficult for me both physically and mentally. That’s why my main goal this season is to be healthy as well as scoring goals and assists.”
Ebuehi has 10 caps for Nigeria since making his international debut in 2017. The Dutch-born player is hoping to make a return to the national team setup soon.
“If I do well at Empoli, I will have the chance to go to the national team, this is one of my goals. I definitely want to help the club and do better than last season, these are my goals,” he added.
