Following Valiant FC’s final match of the season, a 2-1 loss to First Bank FC, team captain Sixtus Elegalam shared his insights in a post-match interview with Sports 247.
Comparing this season to previous editions, Sixtus emphasized the developmental aspect and improved organization, particularly praising the enhanced media coverage and referee coordination.

“It was a really great season for us and for the whole teams that participated because it was more developmental.
It was more organized in terms of the media coverage and referee coordination. It was a good season for us.”
Despite the loss, he considered it a successful season for Valiant FC and all participating teams.
Reflecting on the match against First Bank FC, Sixtus acknowledged a slow start in the first half but highlighted the team’s resilience in the second half.
While they managed to score late in the game, it was ultimately too late to overturn the result.
Identifying the most engaging match of the season, Sixtus pointed to the encounter against Real Sapphire, describing it as a tough battle where Valiant FC fought hard but fell short in the final moments.
Assessing his own performances, Sixtus rated himself a 7/10, acknowledging room for improvement and expressing determination to reach his peak performance.
Regarding the team’s outlook, Sixtus commended their progress and emphasized their developmental nature.
“The team is really doing well. We are a developmental team and we are looking forward to do more in the next season.”
Looking ahead, he stressed the importance of returning to their league games, applying lessons learned from the NLO season, and building confidence among the younger players.
Sixtus emphasized the significance of mentality and mindset, emphasizing the importance of a strong resolve and determination, akin to the heart of a lion, in facing challenges on the pitch.
