I once heard a story that really fascinated me. Edward had just left his job, and was on the lookout for another job that would give him utmost satisfaction, and make him rich. He moved to a new area, but unfortunately, there were few jobs available in the area. A little research uncovered the fact that a number of companies in the area were either owned or controlled by an unusual business maverick, Mr. Festus Aiyeomola, whose rise from poverty to riches intrigued Edward. He therefore decided to work for Mr. Festus. After several weeks of research, Edward discovered that Mr. Festus’ major interest was anchored in his drive for power and money.
Having finally gotten an appointment, he entered his huge and impressive office determined not to ask directly for a job. Mr. Festus was seated behind a large carved desk and thundered at him, “What do you want young man?” Edward quickly replied, “Mr. Festus, I believe I can make money for you.” He immediately rose and invited Edward to sit in one of the large upholstered chairs. Edward enumerated his ideas and the qualifications he had to realize these ideas, as well as how they would contribute to the personal success of Mr. Festus and that of his businesses.
Needless to say, Mr. Festus hired him at once and for over twenty years he has grown in his enterprises and they both have prospered.
