Secretary of HUK Sports Management Group, Ken Maduabuchi has put forward the idea behind the Champions Soccer Fiesta competition which is set to commence next month.
According to Maduabuchi, the goal of the regional competition is to help provide a platform for Lagos-based clubs to remain competitive in the off-season.
“The Champions Soccer Fiesta is a competition put together by HUK Sports Management Group in collaboration with Opo Sports Management Ltd,” Maduabuchi disclosed to Sports247.
“The idea is to bring together top clubs across Lagos state. To provide an avenue, a platform for teams to remain very competitive until the year runs out because the competitive football season has ended. The NPFL, NNL and NLO have all ended.
“We are putting this together to help teams keep their players fit and remain competitive for other programs to come.”
The Champions Soccer Fiesta Competition will run from the 15th of November to December 10th. 64 enters a preliminary stage of two play-offs rounds, wherefore, the 16 remaining teams will be divided into 4 groups for the competition proper with the eventual winners and runners-up going home with cash prizes.
Maduabuchi also revealed that scouts and agents from within and outside of the country will be present to look out for the best players.
“It an avenue as well for teams to expose their players because we are trying to bring around local scouts and international scouts. That’s why we are partnering with Opo Sports.”
