Bendel Insurance defeated Enugu Rangers 2-1 to end the Flying Antelopes 13-match unbeaten run in a rescheduled game played at the University of Benin, Sports Complex on Thursday.
It was coach Gbenga Ogunbote’s first league defeat of the season since losing 1-0 to MFM on match day four.
Junior Osaghae & Stephen Sodje got the goals for the hosts, while Kelvin Itoya was the scorer for Rangers.
Rangers played the final 69 minutes with 10 men, after Seka Pascal got sent off in the 21 minutes for kicking an Insurance player.
The win was Insurance’s fourth of the season and it moved them up to seventh in the Group A standings, while Rangers still sit top of the group with 31 points, despite having a game in hand.
Insurance will host Niger Tornadoes in their next league match, while Rangers will travel to Aba to face second-placed Enyimba.
