Edo State Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, this morning facilitated with Edo Queens Football Club of Benin on the occasion of Nigerians’ 63 Independence Day celebration.

The ‘Wake and See’ Governor, who was on an inspection tour of the ongoing Mega building project of the State School of Health Technology, also paid an unscheduled visit to the Edo Queens training session today.
He congratulated the entire team on Nigeria @63, adding that the Edo State government will continue to invest in Sports development as part of his electioneering campaign promises.
“Happy Independent Day to Nigeria and Edo State. I’m happy watching your training this morning. Very impressed with you girls. I want to reassure you that the State government will continue to support our young dynamic sportsmen and Women in their various sports, we are very committed to making sure that Edo State regains her premier position in the annals of Nigeria Sports.
The governor after exchanging pleasantry with the players and officials presented cash of 1 million to the entire team for their breakfast and also charged them to be good ambassadors of the State at a given time in their career.
“As you prepare for the 2023/24 NWFL premiership season, and other National competitions, I want to urge the entire team to go for glory by winning laurels for the State.
The government will continue to provide the necessary logistics that will make our sports excel.
As we celebrate our 63 years of Independence I want you all to also enjoy yourselves. I also join you to celebrate by giving the entire team (N1m) one million. Congratulations to Nigeria our country.”
The head coach of the team Moses Aduku, thanked His Excellency for his magnanimity and total commitment of his administration to youth empowerment and infrastructural development in the State.
He promised that Edo Queens would do everything within their power to make Edo State proud.
