Imoudu expressed confidence in the selected players, emphasizing their determination to qualify for the African Games and bring honour to the country.
He highlighted the team’s track record of consistent participation in the beach volleyball event and assured that they would return with a medal.
“We have never eluded the Africa Games since the beach volleyball event came on board. We are assuring the country that we are coming back with a medal,” Imoudu stated.
He acknowledged the potential threat posed by teams from the Arab world but emphasized the team’s preparedness to face any challenge.
Hilary Simon, the captain of the men’s beach volleyball team, echoed Imoudu’s sentiments and promised not to disappoint the country during the African Games Qualifiers.
He expressed confidence in the team’s abilities and praised the support received from the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod.
President Nimrod, in turn, expressed belief in the team’s capability to secure qualification for the African Games.
He outlined plans for the teams, including potential participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Nimrod assured that the Federation would handle funding until the teams qualify for international competitions, at which point the Federal Ministry of Sports Development would take over.
As the teams gear up for the qualifiers, there is a collective optimism that they will perform admirably and secure a coveted spot in the 13th African Games.
