Nigerian striker Abdullahi Tanko has vowed to change the narratives of African players in the lower division in Portugal and help his team gain promotion to where they deserve.
The striker who plays for Sport Club Salgueiros in the Campeonato Liga in Portugal opened his goal-scoring account and helped his team to the next round of the Taça de Portugal, Portuguese Cup with a 93rd-minute screamer against rivals Gondomar S.C. to give his side a 3-2 win away from home.
“I’m here in Europe to help the narrative. I’ll keep working hard to ensure I get to the top,” Abdullahi told Sports247. “I’ll do everything to promote my club to where they deserve and I’m going to make everybody in Nigeria proud of me,” he continued.
Abdullahi joined the Portuguese side after signing from Nigerian club side Team360 known for producing top youth players and exporting them for greater opportunities in Europe and the striker was did not hide his appreciation for the club and its chairman.
“I’m saying a very big thank you to Team360 in Nigeria for nurturing me to this level, I’m really grateful. God bless the club and our chairman,” Abdullahi said.
