Former Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) champions, Plateau United is set to officially unveil Fidelis Ilechukwu as their new Head Coach ahead of the new domestic football season kickoff.
Ilechukwu who last month terminated his contract with Heartland after two years, cited personal reasons and his quest for a fresh challenge as justification for ending his stay with the club.
Nevertheless, tough conditions and financial challenges at the club and backlog of wages, Ilechukwu never got wearied yet delivered the Owerri-based club from been relegated at the just concluded 2020/2021 NPFL season finishing 13th on the log and got to the quarter-final finish in the FA Cup.
A source close to the ‘Working One’ told the media that the gaffer is due to be in Jos next week.
“Ilechukwu is set for the new task ahead with Plateau United and should arrive Jos on Monday morning as planned.
“The management and indeed fans of the club are excited to have one of the vibrant coaches in the NPFL be in the team’s dugout for the new season.
“After he arrives Jos, Ilechukwu is expected to meet his new employers, put pen to his contract, meet with his backroom staff and then have a tour of the club’s facilities. A date for his unveiling will be communicated to the media by Plateau United.”
Speaking further, “Ilechukwu is excited and ready for work and win silverware for the club. He is also thrilled with Plateau United management set targets and long-term plans.
On his part, Camara is one gaffer that likes to work and getting results, which is more important to him than talking in the media space.”
