Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has given his express approval to the immediate dissolution of the Boards of Enyimba Football Club of Aba and Abia Warriors Football Club with immediate effect, sports247.ng can exclusively report.
Governor Ikpeazu while announcing the dissolution of various boards and parastatals on Saturday said the two boards of the NPFL clubs in the state were among 32 boards dissolved by the governor.
According to a release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of the state, Enyinnaya Appolos and made available to newsmen, said the governor while thanking the boards for their services to the state however directed the affected members to handover all government documents and properties to relevant offices.
As at the time of filling this report, no reason was given by the governor for the dissolution but sports247.ng learns that the decision of the governor is in preparation for the change of government in the state which is expected to take place on May 29 when the governor will take a new oath of office for another four-year term.
Aside from Enyimba and Abia Warriors boards, others affected include: Abia State Water Board, Abia State Transport Corporation, Umuahia Capital Development Authority, Abia State Housing Corporation, Abia State Library Board,Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State, among others.
While Enyimba are still second on the log in group A with 28 points , Abia Warriors occupy 11th position on group B table with 21 points and two matches to spare
