President of Nigeria Football Federation, Melvin Amaju Pinnick this afternoon in Rabat, Morocco, was elected into the exalted FIFA executive council.
In the election, highly charismatic Pinnick defeated his Malawian opponent Walter Nyamilandu by a wide margin of 43 votes to 8, to become the third Nigerian after late Orok Oyo Orok and Amos Adamu to be elected on the board.
Ebi Egbe, CEO of Monimitchelle Sports Facility Company, expressed his happiness on the victory of Amaju Pinnick, as he describes it as a big plus for Nigerian and African football.
Ambassador Samuel Ikpea, National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club said Pinnick’s election into the FIFA council board will positively rub on Nigerian football. He recalled how Pinnick used his position back then as a CAF executive member to push some Nigerians to the summit of African football.
On his part, Nigeria’s Pillar of Sports, High Chief Donatus Ejidike-Agu noted that Pinnick’s victory is a sign of a brighter future for Nigerian football. The successful businessman cum sports philanthropist added that Pinnick’s vast experience in world football politics would help bring development and progress to Nigerian and African football.
