Ikorodu City’s Ganiu Adio Excited Seeing His Team’s Historic 4-1 Trouncing Of Akwa United

New loan signing at Ikorodu City FC of Lagos, Ganiu Adio has expressed delight that he was able to witness his side’s historic mauling of Akwa United of Uyo this past weekend.

Sports247.ng reports that Adio, who is on loan from Beyond Limits Football Academy of Ikenne, was not part of The Oga Boys’ squad that pulled off a big surprise in this season’s matchday 25 fixtures of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), but he expressed joy over what his colleagues did.

Incidentally, the dazzling left-back, who captained Beyond Limits last season in gaining promotion to the NPFL from the lower cadre Nigerian National League (NNL), joined Ikorodu City in August, after his parent club sold their slot to Heartland of Owerri.

In the wake of Sunday’s victory, Ganiu Adio admitted in a chat with sports247.ng that the experience he is facing in the NPFL is completely different from what he had during his days with Beyond Limits.

Though he did not play in Sunday’s mammoth win over Akwa United at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, Adio said he is excited with how so many people continue encouraging him.

The youngster, who also captained Beyond Limit to win Viareggio Cup in Italy, said: “Now that I’m playing in the NPFL, it’s another experience entirely for me.

“It’s been a good experience, and I’m happy with how people are responding and even encouraging me.”

He went on to give God praises for guiding him to achieve progress in his new status and for making Sunday’s victory against The Promise Keepers possible.

“It’s our high league, and I am doing well. People respect me a lot, and I thank God for the opportunity.

“I also appreciate our victory over Akwa United. It means a lot to me and my team,” admitted Adio, who also won Ogun State FA Cup and Creative Championship League during his days with Beyond Limits.
