Kano Pillars defensive midfielder, Ikenna Hillary has declared that his next target is to help his club to gold at this year’s Federation Cup.
After playing a key role in their victory via penalties’ shoot-out against Katsina United on Wednesday, the former Shooting Stars of Ibadan and Heartland of Owerri star said the next target is to win the final.
Hilary, who has also seen action in Malta, Spain and Portugal, said in an interview with sports247.ng that Wednesday’s semi-final was a tough one, as Katsina came from two goals down to draw level with his side.
He commended Katsina United for stretching his side all the way at Agege Stadium, Lagos, before his team could eventually win by kicks from the penalty spot.
“It was a good game,” added the CHAN 2014 bronze medalist with the home-based Eagles under late Stephen Keshi.
“Katsina gave us a good fight and they actually stretched us all the way; but Kano Pillars is always a good team that stays strong till the end.
“That is why we believe we can win this cup. I can tell you that all Pillars players are determined to write their names in gold by winning the 2019 Federation Cup. It has been elusive for Pillars but we will win it this year.”
