Smart City FC We’re forced to a 1-1 draw in their second game of the Ikeja Divisional League and coach of the side, Festus Odini, has praised the organizer of the league and expressed displeasure at the performance of his side in the game.
“It’s not a bad game and the league is good for the boys to be nurtured properly and it’s a welcome idea. I’m not happy with the performance of my boys today, we had chances but we were not taking them and football is all about goalscoring. If you play so well without scoring, it doesn’t count as it’s only the goals that count,” Festus said.
“We could have been 2-3 goals up in the first half if we had taken our chances. I have no issues with the referee as if we had done the right thing and converted our chances, we would have been victorious. Football is all about taking your chances and scoring goals, if you don’t you will pay for it,” the Ex-international added.
Speaking to Sports247, Festus further charged the fans of the side to keep supporting the team as their support will yield dividends in due time. “The fans should still stick by us, we’ll get there. It’s a work in progress, the boys will learn from it and will develop,” Festus said.
