May FC clinched the Ikeja Divisional FA League Super 4 trophy on Sunday after playing out a goalless draw with NAFRC FC.
The side finished on 7 points to end in a first position having beaten both Dosu Joseph FC and Smart City in their first two matches.
Speaking with Sports247, May FC star player Aderibigbe Oluwafemi expressed his delight to have won the cup, dedicating the trophy to his late parents.
“I thank God for this great victory. From the beginning of the competition it has been very demanding but I am happy we went unbeaten to win the trophy,” Oluwafemi said joyously. “I want to dedicate the trophy to my late parents. My mom and dad are both late and I want to dedicate the cup to them.”
The forward credited his club’s backroom staff for motivating the group to win the regional tournament.
“Our board member gave us motivation, encouraging us that if we win this tournament there’s a lot of things to come along with it. We thank God for giving us the privilege to win the trophy.”
The player revealed his goals for the future, saying, “my aim is to start from the grassroots which I have been playing from my childhood to becoming an international player to showcase my talents to the world.”
