Technical Director of Dannaz Football Club Of Lagos, Fatai Smith Akande has explained why his academy would participate in the forthcoming U-15 Ikeja DFA U-15 League.
Akande disclosed that they are coming to the league to develop and expose their young players who don’t have the opportunity to play competitive league or competition.
“This is a good development and I must commend Ikeja DFA boss, Alhaji Rafiu Alagbe for this initiative. It is the first of its kind and we are happy to be part of it. We have young players within the age bracket but they don’t play a competitive league or competition so Ikeja DFA U-15 would be a good platform for them to showcase their talents and see if we can move some of them to the main team in the nearest future,” he said.
Akande whose senior team won the recent Lagos FA Cup final disclosed that the league would be competitive and tough and noted that Dannaz would give any team that comes their way a tough game.
He added that they are not coming to the league to win at all costs but said that the most important thing is to expose the players and bring them to the limelight.
“We are not coming to the league to win at all costs although we let our players and coaching crew know that winning is part of the game. Our mission in the league is to give our young players an opportunity to showcase their God-given talents and ensure that they play good football throughout the league,” he said.
