In an exclusive interview with Sports247, Coach Idowu shed light on the meticulous preparation that led to this triumph. “Before the Super 4, we prepared very well for it,” he disclosed. “We played four vital friendly matches, including one with Kazeem Eletu where we were beaten 5-1. Afterwards, we engaged in more friendly matches, drawing two and losing one before entering this tournament.”
With victory in hand, the coach’s sights are set on the future. “What is there is that we have a lot of programs for the boys, and we are focused on moving on because we still have a lot of things to offer,” he affirmed.
Asked about the possibility of keeping the talented group of players together, Coach Idowu maintained an open-minded approach. “If anybody comes asking for them, there is no problem. They are welcome, so long as the management is aware. We don’t tie players down,” he emphasized.
Coach Idowu joined the team in 2021 and reflected positively on his journey so far. “There has been no problem,” he attested. “The team has many coaches, and I am one of the management. Since I used to train boys, I was brought on board to join the team, and so far, it has been a good one.”
