The inaugural edition of the Ika Grassroots Football League will kick off on August 17. This was made known after a meeting of the Ika Grassroots Football Coaches held on Tuesday, July 27th.
According to Dr. Ken Gadaffi, Director of KG Sports Foundation who is the main Organizer, about 12 teams have indicated interest and 10 Teams will be selected to join the league this season.
“We have seen 12 teams indicating interests but we will want to limit it to 10 for this season considering logistics as we don’t have any major Sponsors ” the erudite Sports Administrator stated.
The League will be played in a Home and away format to enable clubs to build their fan base and attract local Sponsors.
“The goal is to help teams build their fan base and attract local Sponsors, that matches will be played on a home and away format and the Winner at the end of the season will be crowned champions” Dr. Gadaffi Explained.
Teams that have indicated interest include KG Sports Academy Agbor, Winners FC Agbor Obi, Green Rangers FC Onwundinjor, Unity FC Ewuru, Ekuku Agbor United FC Ekuku Agbor, Umunede United FC, Akumazi United FC, Abavo United FC, Rainbow FC, Superfly FC, Owa Alero FC.
