Nigeria’s foremost marathons and road races running company, Nilayo Sports Management Limited, has set July 17, 2021 as the new date for the maiden Ijebu Heritage Half Marathon after a meeting in Ijebu Ode on Friday.
Bukola Olopade, the Chief Executive Officer of Nilayo Sports disclosed on Friday after a meeting with The Heritage Group in Ijebu Ode that the Ijebu Marathon will be called Ijebu Heritage Half Marathon.
Speaking after the meeting, Olopade shower encomiums on The Heritage Group. He said, “I’m so excited about the commitment of The Heritage Group towards the marathon and also proud of all Ijebus”
He concluded by thanking the Governor of Ogun State Dapo Abiodun. “We want to appreciate the continual support of Governor Dapo Abiodun for the past two years”
Also speaking at the meeting on Friday, the coordinator of the marathon representing The Heritage Group, Otunba Tunde Odulaja said the motive of the marathon is to create awareness and put Ijebuland on a global front.
He concluded by appealing to the state government to create enabling environment and facilities around Ijebuland for the marathon so that it will showcase the state to the world.
