Stakeholders from the former Ijebu Province have taken a major step towards establishing a new state by forming a 14-member harmonization committee, with equal representation from Ijebu and Remo zones.
The committee aims to resolve disputes concerning the proposed state’s name and capital. This decision was made during a consultative meeting at the palace of the Akarigbo of Remoland, attended by royal fathers, dignitaries, and Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
Senator Daniel emphasized the importance of unity and determination, describing state creation as “doable.” The initiative seeks equitable development, better governance, and enhanced representation.
With a bill sponsored by Senator Daniel already passing its first reading, the campaign for a new state continues to gain traction.
