The second Edition of the Agbor Unity Cup begins today at Two centers in Agbor with defending champions Ihu-iyase FC taking on debutante Emerald FC at the Agbor Township Stadium, kick off at 10am.
Ihu-iyase won the first edition held in October 2022 and only two weeks ago were Crowned Champions of the Anioma Cup organized by the Delta North Football coaches Council.
A total Twelve teams are taking part in this edition which is being organized by the Agbor Coaches and Directors Union.
Three teams in each group will play a round robin following which the top two in each group will progress to the quarterfinals.
“We want to continue to develop agbor football, there are abundant talents here and the only way to harness them is through tournaments like this.” Coach Matthew, acting chairman of the Union said.
In other opening fixtures, ihuyase takes on Emerald in group A clash at the stadium, over at Gbenoba Grammar School in Group B ika lions will face off with Star Peak while in group C Winners FC will lock horns with Ultimate stars also at Gbenoba Stadium.
Meanwhile the Group D clash between Rainbows and Soccer Stars will be on Sunday at the Gbenoba Grammar school ground also.
