It was a Sunday evening of uncanny drama for Leicester City, as Kelechi Iheanacho almost scored nine minutes after getting off the bench versus Tottenham Hotspur, while Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi played from the start despite not initially being listed in the first eleven.
Sports247.ng reports that Iheanacho got off The Foxes’ bench in the 72nd minute to add some fresh fire power up front, and almost justified his inclusion with an effort on goal, only to see it hit the side netting.
Liecester eventually ended up losing 3-1 away, after an encounter in which they made their first switch in plans before kick-off at Wembley Stadium, London, as Ndidi was called up to replace an injured colleague.
The Foxes’ boss, Claude Puel was forced into a late change to his original starting lineup with Ndidi replacing Mendy, who picked up an injury in the warm-up.
While Iheanacho and Ndidi were involved in dramatic settings before and during the game, another substitute, Jamie Vardy atoned for a penalty he missed early on to get their side’s consolation goal on the evening of diverse trappings.
At the edn of it all, Iheanacho and Ndidi were left in sadness, while Spurs moved close to within five points of English Premier League table toppers, Liverpool.
A first goal for the club from Davinson Sanchez and a fine strike from Christian Eriksen were enough to give Mauricio Pochettino’s side the win at Wembley.
Vardy, who missed a penalty with his first touch as a substitute, halved the deficit with 14 minutes to go but Son Heung-min struck a third on the break to seal the three points in injury time.
