Iheanacho: I Want Keep Making Nigerians Proud

Leicester City of England attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho has admitted he is happy with his recent revival of fortunes with the club, and believes it will accord him opportunities of making Nigerian soccer fans proud of him.

Sports247.ng can report that Iheanacho, who says Leicester striker, Jamie Vardy is his biggest inspiration at the former English Premier League champions, is happy that many Nigerian now have opportunities to watch matches.

He recounted how he could not afford to watch international soccer matches during his days rowing up in Owerri, hence his determination to give value for money to those who spend to watch him play for The Foxes.

Iheanacho recounted how he had to save up in order to be able to watch some key matches involving top African players back in the days, and acknowledged that many Nigerians are doing the same for him nowadays.

The former Manchester City ace said he is happy that many Nigerians are watching him at viewing centres at home and abroad, which is why he hopes to continue doing well so that those seeing him on the screen will always be proud.

Iheanacho added: “I have to keep doing it. I don’t have to stop. I have to keep doing it and the struggle continues. They are before me and they are proud and I will keep doing them proud.

“I watched a little bit a little bit maybe important games I could save money and watch them. I think I watch a bit of Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure, Wayne Rooney and Didier Drogba when I was back home in Nigeria.

“If I get the opportunity to watch the game, if they allow me, then I go but I have to fundraise. I get ten percent of the fundraise to watch the game.

“So many didn’t get the opportunity to watch it as well as me, so I just kick the ball and I just kick the ball and keep hoping that is what I do.”
