Newly appointed General Manager of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) Emeka Igwilo has spoken to Sports247.ng for the first time since his appointment.
Igwilo who automatically is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the federation says his plan is to reposition the sports in the country which is already the idea of the current board.
“Cricket in Nigeria is gradually becoming a force to be reckoned with. The improvement of the game is the most paramount to actors and stakeholders,” Igwilo explained to Sports247.ng.
“I’m saddled with the responsibility of repositioning Cricket in Nigeria. It’s a concerted effort as there is a workable effort by the current board in which is in place.”
He added that, the ICC is happy with the progress of the sports of cricket in the country hence the need to redouble the effort of making Nigeria a cricket nation in Africa once more.
“Cricket in Nigeria has gotten recognition by ICC due to the exploits of our national teams in African organized competitions.”
“That means we need to redouble our efforts in order to be a force to be reckoned with in the game.”
