The Management of Police Baton of Lagos has attributed their National Final 8 qualification to the leadership of the Nigerian Police Force under the leadership of Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, (PSC (+), fdc, NPM).
Chairman of the club, Superintendent of Police Togun Michael said the improved level of motivation for the players and coaches during the Men’s Premier Basketball League (Atlantic Conference) made their qualification possible.
“I must admit that our trip to Akure was one the best funded trips in the history of this team recently. Our players and coaches stayed in decent hotel and were given all their entitlements.”
“As a former basketball player myself, I know the importance of this type of motivation for athletes. Motivation is beyond mere talks for these athletes and they tend to give more if properly motivated.”
An impressed SP Togun lauded the IGP and the New Police Sports Management Team for lifting the
Police Basketball team to a new dunking height which resulted in an unprecedented qualification and a chance to snatch the sole ticket to the 2021 NBA organised Basketball African League.
“We will continue to do our best as a team to ensure that we get good results and continue to represent what the Nigerian Police Force stands for positively.”
The team did just enough with five wins and two losses to finish third on the log and emerge as one of the Atlantic Conference representatives.
The team will compete against Kano Pillars, Gombe Bulls, Benue Braves, Customs, Rivers Hoopers, Lagos Islanders and Kwara Falcons in the National Final 8 slated for Lagos.
