Shanghai Greenland Shenhua of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has disclosed that he is already holding unto some personal and collective targets he wants to pull off at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Sports247.ng learnt that top of Ighalo’s targets is to rain goals for the Super Eagles at AFCON 2019 and help the Nigerian national team go far at the continental soccer showpiece in June/July.
The former Changchun Yatai of China striker, who has previously played for clubs in Norway, Spain, Italy and England, said he is happy to emerge top scorer in the AFCON 2019 qualifies overall, but stressed that he now has to repeat the feat at the championship proper.
Aside hitting the height of personal glory in his AFCON debut, Ighalo is also looking towards collective milestones as well, with a verdict that it would be awesome for Nigeria to win a fourth tile in Egypt.
He is of a view that Eagles can shine on the strength of rising winning mentality in the squad, plus the fact that they still have a large array of stars who played key roles in the team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Ighalo stated: “The dream is to replicate this scoring form for Nigeria in Egypt. I am confident on this but we have to take each game as it comes.
“I have no doubt we will do well. Majority of the players are from the World Cup. We have played together and we know ourselves very well.”
