The seasoned striker, who recently joined the Saudi club, showcased his scoring prowess in his first competitive appearance.
Ighalo, a late substitute for Hussain Al-Eisa in the 86th minute, wasted no time in leaving his mark on the match.
Just six minutes after stepping onto the field, he capitalized on an assist from Faycal Fajr and found the back of the net during the second minute of added time (92nd minute), sealing his goal-scoring debut in style.
The synergy between Ighalo and Fajr was evident, as the latter not only turned provider for Ighalo’s goal but also contributed to the scoreboard by netting a goal himself in the 34th minute of the game.
Ighalo’s return to the Saudi football scene occurred last week Tuesday when he officially signed a one-year contract with Al Wehda.

The club celebrated his arrival with a video announcement on their social media platforms, affectionately referring to him as an “African eagle.” The move was met with enthusiasm from fans and supporters of both the player and the club.
The Saudi Arabian outfit, based in Mecca, emphasized that Ighalo’s contract includes an option for a potential extension beyond the initial year.
The 34-year-old marksman had departed Al Hilal earlier in June, having secured the league title and Kings Cup during his tenure with the club.
Ighalo’s impact on the Saudi League was undeniable, as he claimed the top scorer title with an impressive tally of 20 goals two seasons ago.
Ighalo’s seamless transition into Al Wehda, highlighted by his swift goal-scoring debut, sets a promising tone for the upcoming matches.
The striker’s experience and prowess could prove to be a pivotal asset for the club’s aspirations in the Saudi Arabian Professional League and beyond.
