Shanghai Greenland Shenhua of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has put aside the disappointment of losing his second match with his new club in the Chinese Super League, as he says he is looking forward to scoring more goals that will help the team soar up the table.
Shenhua are last placed in the CSL after two straight defeats in the new campaign, but sports247.ng can report that Ighalo is eager to keep raining goals, in order to help his side pull out of relegation waters.
Ighalo would sadly remember how he failed to save his former club, Changchun Yatai from taking the drop last season, despite his rain of goals, such that he is determined to put in extra effort this time out.
The Super Eagles star is now thinking big, after netting his maiden goal in Shanghai Shenhua’s colours, but they fell to a 2-1 loss at home against Hebei CFFC in a week 2 fixture.
Having fired blanks in the opening day derby against Shanghai SIPG on March 1, which was his first CSL match after switching clubs in January, Ighalo got his first goal for his new team after 134 minutes of game time.
In Sunday’s crucial game, Ighalo needed only four minutes to cancel out Ayoub El Kaabi’s opener, which the prolific Morocco international scored on the half-hour mark, but it was not enough to save Shenhua.
Consequently, Ighalo, who scored 36 goals in 55 appearances across two seasons with Changchun, is now looking for another goal in his team’s next match and many more to follow.
Ighalo posted: “first goal for Shenhua. Keep Your Heads Up Guys, This Is Just The Beginning. Looking Forward To The Next Game ️ #Csl.”
