History repeats itself again as Odion Ighalo suffered another FA cup heartbreak in his side wembley’s horrendous showdown with Chelsea who they had previously beaten thrice before the title defining clash as the Londoners edged them out in a 3-1 victory booking a final with Arsenal who edged out Man City on the same ground.
Manchester United rested Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood, Paul Pogba, and the Nigerian who had previously started in the domestic cup putting in applauded performances when called upon for their trip to Wembley and looked a shadow of themselves.
Ighalo had previously reached the semi-final with Watford in his first spell in England at Wembley but was defeated by his present club, only for the Manchester club to put him down again against Chelsea.
The Nigerian came on for a cameo appearance in the second half and there was nothing he could do while his side was 3-0 down all thanks to David De Gea’s blunder for Chelsea’s second goal as the Manchester United’s No.1 came under scrutiny again.
Solskjaer picked De Gea ahead of Sergio Romero – who had played in every other round of the FA Cup this season – and saw the Spaniard commit another error as he failed to keep out Mason Mount’s hopeful strike.
The Old Trafford club will seek to bounce back as they face a more serious clash with West Ham in race for the UCL spot before they finally face Leicester.
