The management of Lagos-based NLO side Iganmu FC are certainly not relenting on its commitment to exposing the large pool of its talented players to top-grade local and international football tournaments.
Coming quickly on the heels of its planned trip to Italy to participate in a U-16 soccer tournament in October, this year, the team has also been invited to participate in the final rounds of the JSE U-16 Soccer Championship billed for October-December, 2022, in Thailand.
According to Abayomi Egbayelo, President of the raves-making team, participating in these international tournaments is aimed at exposing the highly impressionable lads to different cultures and types of football as well as, boosting their confidence, morale, tactical, technical, and discipline levels, as they continue to develop their innate talents for the game.
Speaking on the forthcoming foreign tournaments, the General Manager of the team, Chibuzor Obilor, stated that the tournaments are further efforts to develop the talented young lads in the team. Adding that five players in the U-12 team that won the World Football Challenge in 2019, in Japan, are among the selected players for the tournaments.
“These international tournaments are capital intensive, but we are focused on our set targets to make the team a globally renowned sports brand. We’re leaving no stones unturned in this journey.
” I must commend the unrelenting moral and financial commitments of the club president Abayomi Egbayelo to these projects. It’s indeed, awe-inspiring. We can’t but also thank our partners, sponsors, and supporters, including the Japan Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Kazuyoshi Matsunaga, and many others for their belief in this project.
