President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Honourable Daniel Igali has expressed optimism in the ability of the country’s wrestlers to do well at the fast approaching world championship in Hungary.
Speaking of his projections for Budapest 2018, Igali told sports247.ng that past records and recent feats by the team give him enough confidence to expect heroics again for the country.
Igali, who lead Nigeria’s contingent of four female wrestlers and coaches to the championship, which starts this weekend, said he is targeting a first ever gold medal for the country at the global competition.
“I am sure that we have the quality of wrestlers that can do well and make us proud,” said the former Olympics gold medalist for Canada.
“We have the right quality to make Nigeria proud in Budapest but, more than anything, I will love to see one of them win a first ever gold medal for Nigeria at this championship.”
