ICC U19: Prosper Useni Drives Nigeria Into Cricket Semi Finals

Nigeria, unbeaten in their opening two games at the ICC World Cup U19 Africa Division two qualifiers, with wins over Rwanda on opening day and then Botswana, added a third win, thanks to a blistering Prosper Useni performance Sports247 confirms.

Nigeria who had not lost a single wicket in the competition, faced another unbeaten side in the group, Sierra Leone in a battle for who stays top of the group.

Nigeria won the toss and elected to bat and were able to score 184 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 47.4 overs, leaving Sierra Leone to chase 185 runs.

A commanding display from Prosper saw him win the MVP award for the game, taking six wickets for 26 runs in 6.5 overs, including two consecutive wickets with two balls in his last over.

“I’m very happy. At first we struggled and then the captain handed over the ball to me and said, ‘hey, Prosper please help us, deliver us from this mess’, and I said ok and Hod made it possible,” Prosper said after the game.

Nigeria will have a day break and then face Malawi in the semi final on Thursday for a place in the finals in Abuja.
