Ibrahim Olawoyin Shares His Experience at Super Eagles Camp

Newly invited Super Eagles midfielder Ibrahim Olawoyin, who plays for Rizespor in Turkey, has expressed his excitement and gratitude for being part of the national team camp for the first time.

Olawoyin shared his thoughts and experiences in an exclusive interview, highlighting the significance of this opportunity and his journey to this point.

He described his feelings upon joining the Super Eagles camp as surreal and deeply gratifying. “Yeah, I feel so amazing, like I feel great about this. It’s a big privilege for me which I will cherish for life for a long time,” he said.

The call-up came as a pleasant surprise to him, marking a significant milestone in his career. “It came as a surprise to me. It’s a real surprise, but I’m so happy it finally came,” Olawoyin added.

Reflecting on his recent season in Turkey, Olawoyin recounted his impressive performances that likely contributed to his national team selection.

“It was a fantastic season for me, like everyone said. I’m really happy about that. We started the season very well. Not so bad.

Also, I was gradually getting better in the league,” he noted. Olawoyin’s season statistics were commendable, with eight goals and three assists, demonstrating his growing influence on the pitch.

Olawoyin acknowledged the elevated level of competition and quality within the Super Eagles squad compared to club football.

“Yeah, it’s different because you know, it’s all-around quality players or all the best players from everywhere they represent,” he said. This environment, he believes, will enhance his development and performance as a player.

The midfielder shared the overwhelming support he received from his loved ones upon receiving his call-up. “They were so happy. The congratulations were so big and I feel so great about that also,” he remarked.

Olawoyin is determined to make the most of this opportunity and contribute significantly if given the chance to play in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.

“I will surely give my best because like I said, it’s a privilege wearing this jersey because I am representing the whole nation. So, I’ll surely give my best,” he affirmed.

As the Super Eagles gear up for their high priority matches, Olawoyin’s inclusion adds depth to the squad, and his enthusiasm and commitment are promising signs for Nigerian football fans.
