Friends and associates of Sir Nicholas Onyeogali Chizea today joined about 80 golfers at the Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC), Asaba to honour the gentleman in celebration of his 70th birthday, IGCC Vice Captain, Alfred Ebreneyin and handicap secretary, Sifo Oniti has disclosed.
The celebrant, who is also the Oshimili Ahaba, as well as the captain of the club, is organizing the tournament.
It added that the thanksgiving service and reception would hold at the Grand Hotel, Asaba tomorrow.
Expected at the tournament are golfers from Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS), UBTH Golf Club, Benin, Ogunu Golf Resort, Warri, Sapele Athletic Club, Sapele, Arsenal Golf Club, Owerri, Aba Sports Club and Enugu Sports Club, among others.
The club also disclosed that dignitaries from across the country would grace the presentation ceremony. These include members of the Olinzelle, Asaba Traditional Council, and his colleagues during his working days at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Winners at the event will earn various prizes and trophies, including rewards for the overall winner, men handicap 1-13, and 14-28, guests, veterans, and ladies category, as well as for longest drive and nearest the pin winners.
