International Boxing Federation European Welterweight champion, Larry Ekundayo, will defend his crown on home soil, Sports 247 can confirm.
The fight scheduled for June 30 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos was announced by CEO of Saleh Gloves Promotion, Saleh Fawaz at a press briefing in Lagos.
“We are happy to announce to the public that Nigeria’s Salam and Ekundayo will be fighting come June 30 here in Lagos, Nigeria,” Fawaz told Sport 247.
“It will be a spectacular event, where boxing will be mixed with entertainment and lots of good security and fun for the family to watch and enjoy.”
Similarly, CEO of World Class Athletes Promotions, Ben Gray added: “My motive as a Briton is to contribute my quota to the development of boxing in Nigeria and help guide Nigeria’s best boxers to the top of their career.”
Home grown talents such as Rilwal Lawal, Taiwo Olowu and six more boxers will also be fighting, while WBF African Cruiserweight champion, Tony Salam will battle Ghana’s Bastie Samir for the WBO African Cruiserweight title.
