Former Super Eagles Midfielder, John Mikel Obi has responded to Chelsea’s striker attack after scoring and played a crucial part in Chelsea’s demolition of Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
Nicolas Jackson scored in Chelsea’s 6-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on matchday two of the Premier League, played on Sunday at the Molineux, and the Senegalese took to his social media account and told the Nigerian Legend to ‘Shut Up” and has been a trending topic on X.
In what has been termed as ‘ Africa brothers at war”, Mikel has previously questioned Jackson’s capacity to lead the Chelsea’s attack hence he has been in the lead calling Chelsea to get a better striker, in the mode of compatriot, Victor Osimhen.
In his latest edition of The Obi One Podcast, the former Chelsea midfielder replied to the cryptic message of Jackson, defiantly saying he will always talk about once there is anything to be said and he will only shut up if he scores every week
” If he plays well, I will praise him! If there is something to be said about him, where he needs to improve, I will definitely say it, and you know if he scores every week and tells me to shut up, I’ll take it.”
Mikel also addressed the African brother bad mouthing another African, the new twist around the narrative and clarified he meant well for Jackson as a fellow African playing for Chelsea as he wants him to attain Didier Drogba level of success as an African striker who distinguish himself playing for Chelsea.
“He is from Africa, I am from Africa, you know what I mean. I know he mentioned Africa, and I have represented Africa and helped African football in terms of playing in the Africa Cup of Nations four or five times,”
“I won the African Cup of Nations and for me, I would like to see my African brother like he said do well in the Premier League, come to Chelsea, a big club, a massive club, where you know we have had one of the greatest strikers in Didier Drogba from Africa, Ivory Coast, did really well. I would like to see him do well as well.”
Jackson scored a total of 18 goals in 46 appearances for Chelsea after joining the team last season but many Chelsea’s fans still not impressed with his first season returns as many claimed he lost more chances than he converts as the main man leading the line for the London club.
