Arta/Solar7 forward, Samuel Akinbinu has revealed his unflinching love and support to Bayelsa United admitting that he would reject a million naira contract just to play for Bayelsa United even if the team is offering less as their love affair is beyond money.
Samuel confessed that the overwhelming love, acceptance coupled with massive care he received from the team and fans during his spell at the club is incomparable to others he has represented back here in Nigeria before his departure to Djibouti Premier League in 2019.
He made this known in an interactive podcast session hosted by Omolagba Yemi alongside co-hosts, Damilola and Nnadozie on Friday.
“Bayelsa United is like home to me, they made me feel welcomed when I first arrived. I had that sense of belonging in the team and that’s why they have a special place in my heart even if I had a brief stint with them, they were memorable times.”
“If a team were to offer me millions and then Bayelsa United needs my services even for a far lesser deal, without hesitation, I will sign for Bayelsa United. The fans loved me, the team took great care of me as one of their own and I will never forget that,’ Samuel stated.
Samuel is a player you can’t forget in a haste as he was a household name in the Nigeria Professional Football League following his brief spells at Lobi Stars, Rivers United, Shooting Stars, Bayelsa United and First Bank.
Samuel who is now a full fledged Djibouti international player after receiving his
Djiboutian citizenship in June 2021 admitted that football in Nigeria is more advanced and enterprising compared to what it is in Djibouti.
“You can’t compare both countries but one thing I know is that we are gradually gathering pace and momentum to be one of the recognized countries in Africa, we will get there.”
“We are steadily and gradually finding our footing, we will get that recognition, I know and believe so much in how far we have come and where we are heading because we will get global recognition someday.”
Samuel is tipping Enyimba for the title this season believing that they have what it takes to win the NPFL with an exciting, young talented squad they have assembled.
