Former Super Eagles midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju has disclosed that there were two Nigerians playing for Real Madrid when he joined the Galaticos in 1989.
Adepoju played for the team B of Real Madrid for four years appearing 67 times and scoring 27 goals.
The head master explained to journalists on the Family United by Football WhatsApp platform that there were other two Nigerians with him at the Santiago Bernabeau.
“I was not the only one there, I had Dimeji Lawal and Chris Ohenhen with me before they moved on to other clubs.”
The former Julius Berger players narrated that, a La Liga rule prevented him from playing for the first team of Real Madrid.
“I was about to be promoted to the first, but there was a rule that says only three foreigners can play in a team. I could not battle with the big boys then because I was too young.”
Adepoju later played for Racing Santander and Real Sociedad in a 12 year stint in the La Liga scoring 60 times.
