Coach Emmanuel Lentini of CharlesAnn FC expressed his disappointment following his team’s 5-4 loss in penalties to Dino SC in the Jagaban Cup finals.
Lentini revealed his initial expectations for the match, stating, “I was expecting like 2-1. But unfortunately, the defender gave them the second goal. Then we lost by penalty.” He told Sports 247.
He attributed the second goal conceded to a defensive error, emphasizing the need for better communication and organization within the team.
The coach also highlighted his expectations from the goalkeeper, stating, “I expected my goalkeeper to talk to the defence because he’s the one that is at their back.
He’s supposed to control his defence.” However, he expressed disappointment with the goalkeeper’s static positioning during penalty kicks, indicating that the lack of adaptability may have impacted the outcome.
Despite the loss, Lentini acknowledged the overall performance of his players, noting, “The game is nice. They played well, but just a few mistakes.”
He remained optimistic about the team’s future, expressing confidence in their ability to learn from the experience and improve in subsequent matches.
