Odediran Farouk, an attacker for Eko Football U13 spoke to Sports247 after his brilliant display for Eko Football in a friendly and he thanked his father for the support this far.
“I want to thank my dad because he’s the one who put me into football, he encouraged me as he loves football so much,” he said.
“Without education, you won’t be able to go far in football because if you can not speak and write you won’t be able to play football well. So I encourage those out there to focus on their education as well,” Farouk added.
The lad spotted in the number three jersey for Eko Football U13 told Sports247 that his role model is Barcelona star Lionel Messi because of his goals and also explained that he hopes to play in Europe in the next five years or in the Nigerian Professional Football League.
“I want to see myself in Europe playing leagues like the Premier League, (UEFA) Champions League, La Liga,” he said and when asked why he didn’t mention the NPFL in Nigeria he said “Oh, I can also play there. It’s by God’s grace, if I get the chance I will. Anywhere football carries me too,” he added.
He explained that he would be honoured to play for MFM FC in the Nigerian League as he loves the club.
