Adediran Mary, a young sprinter and long jumper has already set sights on achieving success at the National Sports Festival if given the opportunity to represent team Lagos despite being an origin of Osun State.
Mary with a Personal Best of 12.40s, 25.40s, and 5.40m in the 100m, 200m, and Long Jump events respectively, hopes to jump the seven-meter mark in the next two years while also setting better records at the Sports Festival.
“I would like to represent Lagos state as I was born here, though from Osun State. My target would be to jump up to the 6m mark, running at least an 11.90s in the 100m and 24.00 I’m 200m” Mary told Sports247.
“I see myself reaching that landmark (7m jump) in the next two years because I see myself getting a 6.0m already, so I believe I can do that,” she added.
Mary revealed that combining education and sports hasn’t been too difficult for her as she trains during exams too with so much support from her parents and coach.
“I want to thank my parents for their support from day one. They never looked down on me. My dad is always there any time I call him, making sure to provide for me just like my mum. I’ll love to thank my coach as well, he’s been a father and uncle to me as well,” she stated.
“I’ve been able to combine both sports and my education well. I remember still training when I was writing my WAEC so coping has been quite easy for me at the moment,” Mary concluded.
