Former Remo Stars central defender, Anthony Rasheed Sodiq has said his time has come to play for Super Eagles.
Sodiq said this in an exclusive interview on phone with our correspondent after his team, FC Alania defeated a premier side, Radnik of Serbia 5-3 in the pre-season friendly played recently in Turkey.
Sodiq who just unveiled recently at Division one club, FC Alania of Russia is happy that Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr had promised Nigerians to keep tabs on Nigerian players both in the local league and abroad so as to form a strong team ahead of next Nations Cup qualifying matches.
Sodiq disclosed that his present form is superb as well as better and urged the Eagles coaching crew led by Rohr to watch some matches in Russian leagues especially clubs where Nigerian players are featuring.
“I am happy when I read it that Coach Rohr would keep tabs on Nigerian players in the local scene and abroad. To me, it is a welcome idea and I believe that if Rohr is opportune to watch me in my club, he would be impressed with my style of play. Secondly If happens that I am invited to Eagles today by coach Rohr, the attackers would be in trouble because I will not only give my best, but I would ensure that I make life difficult for any attacker or striker to come on my way. I am not boasting so that Rohr would invite me but it is what I did when I played for Fremad FC of Denmark before I moved to the Russian league,” said Sodiq who started his football career with Messiah FC of Lagos.
Commenting on his expectations with his new club, Sodiq said his target is to promote his club to the Russian premier league and give his best for his club so that he would be attracting big clubs in Europe.
