Super Falcons defender, Onome Ebi has addressed her leadership role with the Nigerian female national team.
Onome, 37, explains that her influence comes naturally as she is one of the most experienced players in the group and being the oldest.
“I have always been a leader in the national team because I know I am one of the experienced players and again the oldest player,” she told Sports247.
“So the experience has always been there. Being the last man on the pitch you know you talk a lot.
“You control the players a lot so that has been in me even on and off the pitch. I have always been like a leader to the team.”
Onome reiterated that her role is inherent as the players always listen to her.
“I think it’s just in me. They listen to me outside the pitch and inside the pitch so I always use that as an advantage to talk to the players more.
“It has been in me like that. It’s not a problem for me. It’s nothing.” she concluded.”
Onome who plays for Henan Jianye in the Chinese Women Super League is currently with the Super Falcons squad competing in the Gold City Tournament in Turkey.
