Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme has declared his desire to remain at Trabzonspor, despite reports linking him with a summer transfer away from the Turkish Super Lig champions.
Nwakaeme’s contract with Trabzonspor runs out on June 30th which will make him a free agent by then. However, the 33-year-old has stated he wants to remain at the club beyond this summer. Speaking to İhlas News Agency, via Fanatik, he said:
“The negotiations here continue between Trabzonspor, me and the president. Of course, I am happy here and I want to stay. There are talks and we will see what happens at the end of the talks.
“They know that money is not the problem, that I always put love and respect before money. I’m the last person to be impressed with money. I want people to know that.”
Nwakaeme joined Trabzonspor from Israeli club Hapoel Be’er Sheva in 2018. The one-time Nigerian international helped the Black Sea Storm win the 2021/22 Turkish league title, the club’s first in 38 years. He contributed with 12 goals and 10 assists.
“I’ve been here for four years. I’m used to being here. I’m used to the people here. I’m used to everyone. People treat me very well. Of course, one of the things that makes you most happy when you go out to the street is that people appreciate the football you play and the contribution you make to their team. Seeing that too makes me very happy.” Nwakaeme added.
