Nigerian assistant coach Joseph Yobo has come out to debunk the news going around that he called iwobi inconsistent.
The former Super eagle’s captain registered his dismay as he claimed that the anchor man changed his words for a malicious intent.
The former Everton man last week granted an interview as he was asked about the number 10 role in the Super Eagles which the assistant manager gave his opinion about Alex Iwobi but the result of the words in the interview didn’t come out as expected in the end. In another interview on instagram with soccernittygritty, yobo quickly corrected the notion about his player. In his words
“The question from the anchor man was Nigeria hasn’t gotten a proper number 10 after JJ. And I tried to correct him and said even when J.J was playing we had Oruma. Mikel has come in and has done very well with the national team and has retired.”
In explaining what transpired in the interview platform, Yobo illustrated how the anchor tried to put words in his mouth but he stood his ground. “Iwobi in my opinion I think is a very good number 10 and he said no, that Iwobi is inconsistent then I said no.”
The former Super eagles centre half expressed his love for iwobi and did justice in defending the nephew of Nigeria’s legend, JJ Okocha. “I like iwobi and he is unpredictable that’s why I like him because it makes it difficult for people to know his style of play but he is a very effective player.”
Yobo accused the source of the twisted story that the story twister did it for malicious intent.
“So I don’t know where he got the inconsistency and missed the unpredictability out. This shows that he has a malicious intent towards the interview that I granted. So he should check again. The anchor man said inconsistent and I said iwobi is unpredictable that’s why I like him. I don’t know where he got it all crossed out. He changed the words.” Joseph Yobo concluded.
