Sporting FA striker, Samuel Godwin has revealed his role model that spurred the nickname that he’s popularly called among his peers stating that there are a lot of European strikers but Osimhen is a different class above them hence why he models his game after the Napoli hitman.
The ongoing Fusion League Football Championship, one of the best grassroots competition is Nigeria entered it’s week two today being April 1st 2023 and the first game was the game between New York FC up against Sporting FA.
Sporting FA Godwin Samuel, popularly called ‘Osimhen’ among his teammates revealed the motive behind the nickname in an exclusive post match interview with Sports247.ng stating that he loves to imitate the Napoli talisman.
“I like the way he plays football. Ever since I started watching him, I quickly took to his style and adopted it because I love the way he moves and play.”
“He is a very aggressive striker, box to box forward. So I fight like him, train hard and hoping that I get to the top too just like Osimhen,” he stated.
“I see Osimhen as a very good striker, I could have picked any European player as my role model just like everyone else but Osimhen is a different class.”
“We have the likes of Haaland, Harry Kane but for me, I prefer Osimhen above them all, he’s a striker to have in the team.”
On his target for the season, “I want to score at least 10 goals in the league this season although I’m yet to get any goal, but in next games, I can do better,” he concluded.
